About Me

"I became determined to learn more, not only to support my own family but to make a broader impact by helping other children and their families navigate the same journey."

CLAIRE DIAMOND . DYSLEXIA SPECIALIST

Dyslexia Assessor and Tutor

With over 20 years of experience in primary education, I have had the privilege of teaching in a variety of settings, including mainstream schools, a specialist speech and language provision, and a school dedicated to children with special needs. This diverse teaching background has equipped me with a wealth of knowledge and practical strategies to support children with a range of learning needs, including dyslexia.

I have always had a deep interest in supporting children with special educational needs, which naturally led me to focus on helping those with dyslexia. This passion was further ignited when both of my own children were diagnosed with dyslexia. Experiencing firsthand the challenges they faced, I became determined to learn more, not only to support my own family but to make a broader impact by helping other children and their families navigate the same journey. I am especially passionate about equipping parents with the tools and strategies they need to support their children at home, ensuring that learning continues beyond the classroom.

In pursuit of this, I have earned a Level 7 qualification and hold AMBDA and APC accreditations, making me a specialist dyslexia teacher and assessor. This advanced certification has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide tailored, individualised tutoring sessions for children with dyslexia. Beyond tutoring, I am also qualified to assess children for dyslexia up to the age of 16. This means I can provide formal, detailed assessments that help parents and schools understand a child’s specific needs, paving the way for targeted interventions that truly make a difference. My personal journey combined with my professional expertise allows me to support children and families with a compassionate, well-informed approach.

My approach

One of my greatest passions is working with children, each of whom brings their own unique strengths, interests, and learning styles. I find immense joy in understanding how each child learns best and tailoring my approach to suit their individual needs.

My experience working with early years and Key Stage 1 students has given me a strong foundation in teaching phonics, early reading, and writing skills. These early literacy techniques are invaluable when working with older children who struggle with reading and writing due to dyslexia. By adapting these foundational methods, I can create personalised, multi-sensory approaches that help children with dyslexia gain the skills and confidence they need to succeed.

I focus on empowering children to overcome their challenges and achieve their potential. Watching them grow in confidence and independence as they develop these skills is incredibly rewarding.
